Ms Cecilia Foo and Mr Don Ho started International Scholars Tuition in 2005 in Hong Kong with the mission of helping families achieve their academic goals by providing tuition and advice.

Ms Cecilia Foo
Cecilia has a Master of Arts and a Bachelor of Arts in Mathematics (First Class Honours) from the University of Oxford (UK). She was awarded the St Catherine's Undergraduate Scholarship at the end of her first year at Oxford. Cecilia began her career as a Mathematics tutor in 2003, specializing in UK school entrance examinations, GCSEs and A Levels. With the founding of International Scholars Tuition, she broadened her student base to all levels, including SAT, AP and university students. Since 2007, she has taught a large number of students following the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) and IB Diploma Programme. With the introduction of the Cambridge Pre-U, Cecilia has now also helped a number of students taking Pre-U Mathematics and Further Mathematics.

Mr Don Ho
Don has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta (Canada) and a Master of Business Administration from the University of Victoria (Canada) where he was also awarded the South-East Asia Business Research Grant and the Asia Pacific Scholar's Grant. Don is a registered teacher in Hong Kong and Canada and has been successfully tutoring international scholars in Hong Kong in Biology, Chemistry, History, Mathematics, Physics, and Religious Studies up to the GCSE Level; Accounting, Business Studies, Economics, English, Geography, and Psychology up to IB Diploma or A-Level. Don has also had a high success rate with SSAT, SAT, and ACT students since 2000.

Dr Jenkins Tsang earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Mathematics (Combined Honours) and his Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Jenkins has been working in Research and Teaching at the University of British Columbia, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the University of Hong Kong since 2002. His research has been published in scientific journals.
He has helped many of his students in one-to-one tutorials and has been successful in guiding his students to pursue further studies and careers in Science. Dr Tsang was awarded the J Fred Muir Memorial Scholarship in Science and the British Columbia Government Scholarship. Ms Rosa Kei is a native Mandarin speaker, who can read, write, and tutor in Traditional and Simplified Chinese. Rosa earned a Master of Science in Applied Linguistics and Second Language Acquisition from the University of Oxford, where she was also awarded a Certificate of Teaching English as a Second Language with Distinction. Rosa gained a Master of Arts in Teaching Chinese as an International Language from the Hong Kong Institute of Education (HKIEd), where she graduated with Distinction, and was placed on the Student Honour List. Rosa completed the Bachelor of Arts (Second Honour First Division) in Language Studies for Professions (specialized in Translation) from The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (HKPU), where she was placed on the Dean's List twice. Rosa also was twice awarded the Scholarship for Hall Residence of HKPU by the Department of English and the Warden Scholarship. While at HKPU, Rosa was the Internal Secretary of the Putonghua Debate School Team, which competed in Hong Kong and Shanghai, China. Rosa is currently co-developing the Hong Kong British Parlimentary Debate Course with Mr Cooper Wilhelm of Yale, which will use SAT Essay Prompts as topics of debate.
Before joining IST, Rosa taught at Hong Kong International School as a Chinese Studies Teacher, as part of her MA Internship in Mandarin. Rosa conducted Chinese Studies classes for Middle School students aged from 12 to 15 years, who had different levels of Chinese proficiency: Second Language Learners (SLL) and Near Native Learners (NNL).
She joined us in 2011, and has tutored several students from German Swiss International School who are preparing for Edexcel IGCSE and GCE A2; a student from American International School, on listening, reading, grammar and writing; a student from South Island School, who is preparing for CIE IGCSE; and a student from Renaissance College who is preparing for IB Chinese.

Ms Juliana Ma is a native Mandarin speaker with a Bachelor of Arts in Journalism from Lanzhou University, Gansu Province, China and a Master of Arts in Journalism from the Hong Kong Baptist University (HKBU).
Juliana obtained a Mandarin Chinese Certificate Band 1 and a Level 3 National Accreditation for Translators and Interpreters, both in China. Juliana's aptitude for tutoring was reflected in her employment as an English Tutor for the Lanzhou University Training Department during her studies. She joined us in January 2010, and has tutored students from St Paul's Co-educational College, on listening, reading Chinese Literature, grammar and written comprehension; a student from German Swiss International School who is preparing for her IGCSE; and students from Tonbridge School who are preparing for their AS and A2 exams.

Mr Colin Shields graduated with honours from Cambridge University with a Bachelor of Arts in English. At Cambridge, Colin specialised in the 19th Century novels of George Eliot and in Renaissance poetry and drama. The broad nature of the Cambridge course that Colin studied means that he is familiar with most periods and authors taught in Hong Kong schools, including The Great Gatsby by F. Scott Fitzgerald, Catcher in the Rye by J.D. Salinger, Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen, and all the plays of Shakespeare covered by the IB and IGCSE courses worldwide. He has also read widely in contemporary novels and poetry. As a student, Colin attained many high test scores, giving him a good foundation for teaching both achievement and ability tests. He scored a 790 on his SAT Verbal component, and also gained top marks on AP and A-level tests. Colin finished his schooling in the UK at the Magdalen College School, an academically selective day school in Oxford. There, he won a prize for his essay-writing.
Colin has more than one year of tutoring 13+, IGCSE, and A-Level at a professional agency in the UK, in several subjects: English Literature, History, Philosophy, and Enrichment. Colin's teaching method depends on ambitious goals reached through patient and attentive instruction at an appropriate pace. When teaching literature, collaborative reading of primary texts is important to Colin's teaching style. Ms Sylvie Rausis is a native speaker of both French and Swiss German, and she speaks English fluently. Sylvie holds a Masters Degree in Russian and Italian Language and Literature from the University of Geneva , Switzerland. Prior to joining International Scholars Tuition, Sylvie tutored French and English at other language centres. Sylvie joined us in July 2007.

Mr Colin Shields completed several papers dealing with the history of England over thecourse of his degree in English at Cambridge University Cambridge University. Purvi has had ten years of experience teaching Physics at Secondary School, and she served as an examiner for the Higher Secondary Certificate examination for Standard 12th, conducted by the Gujerat Education Board.
She is a seasoned International Baccalaureate Diploma Examiner in Physics with over six years experience, and she has been a Teaching Assistant in the Department of Applied Physics and Material Science at the City University of Hong Kong since 2008. Since joining IST, Purvi has been tutoring vectors, projectile motion and relativity to a student of Island School at Higher Level IB Physics.
Physics
Dr Andrew Parsons earned his Doctorate in Nanophysics and Nanotechnology from Royal Holloway, University of London. He joined International Scholars Tuition School in November 2007, and has been mainly tutoring students at GCSE level, A-Level, and on the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme.
He has tutored waves and mechanics to an AQA A-Level student at Harrow School, optics and electricity to A-Level students from Dulwich College and Woldingham School and momentum and electric circuits to a CIE Pre-U student at Winchester College. Andrew is a fluent speaker of Cantonese, and he also speaks basic Japanese.
Physics
Ms Rene Lai earned a Postgraduate Certificate of Education from the University of Hong Kong and a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Physics, from the Chinese University of Hong Kong. Rene has extensive experience tutoring and teaching in Hong Kong, both at Primary and Secondary levels, for over twenty years. She is currently designing the Science Curriculum for a Local Primary School. Rene's proficiency in the subject was further applied in her position as Assistant Editor for a Physics textbook.
Since Rene joined IST in May 2008, she has tutored statics to an Edexcel IGCSE student at Tonbridge School, kinematics to an AQA GCSE student at Benenden School, and forces to a CIE IGCSE student at German Swiss International School in Hong Kong.

Mr. Trevenan Walther earned a Master of Engineering in Biochemical Engineering from the University of Bath (UK) and a Master of Philosophy from the University of Hong Kong.Trev is currently working in Research at the Li Ka Shing Faculty of Medicine, HKU utilising mass spectrometry to investigate emerging infectious diseases. Trev has experience working at the interface between the physical and biological sciences and engineering.
While studying at the University of Bath, Trev was part of the winning teams for the BP Design Prize, the BP Book Prize, and the Unilever Product Design Prize. At Bishop Challoner School (UK), Trev earned an A for his Physics A-Level. Before coming to HK, Trev worked at Pfizer as a Trainee Engineer inthe Bioprocess Development Group, where he focused on the laboratory-based research of biologics. Trev has undergone extensive tutor training and has developed a very thorough approach to tutoring and his lessons shall reflect this.
Russian Tutor

Ms Sylvie Rausis is a native speaker of both French and Swiss German, and she speaks English fluently. Sylvie holds a Masters Degree in Russian and Italian Language and Literature from the University of Geneva , Switzerland.
Prior to joining International Scholars Tuition, Sylvie tutored French and English at other language centres. Sylvie joined us in July 2007.

Mr Don Ho has a Master of Business Administration from the University of Victoria (Canada) and Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta (Canada). Don was also awarded the South-East Asia Business Research Grant and the Asia Pacific Scholar's Grant. Don has been a tutor in Hong Kong since 2000.
Don has tutored SSAT students who have received offers from The Lawrenceville School (USA), The Taft School (USA), and The Hotchkiss School (USA). Don has also tutored an ACT student who now attends Northeastern University (USA) and a GMAT student who now attends the Judge Business School at the University of Cambridge. Don is currently tutoring an SAT student who, as a sophomore, scored 98th percentile on the Critical Reading and 94th percentile on the Mathematics on the PSAT.

Dr Jenkins Tsang earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Mathematics (Combined Honours) and his Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia, Canada.
Jenkins scored 800 on the Mathematics section of the SAT. He currently has an SAT Math subject test student from Island School. Jenkins has been tutoring with IST since March 2010.

Mr Daniel Chan holds a Bachelor of Science Degree (Hons.) in Chemistry from the University of New South Wales, Australia, and a Bachelor of Science Degree (Advanced) from the University of Sydney, Australia, majoring in Chemistry and Biochemistry.
As a student, Daniel achieved a perfect score of 800 on his SAT Chemistry, SAT Math, and the Mathematics section of the SAT Reasoning Test. Daniel has been tutoring with IST since March 2009.

Dr Jenkins Tsang earned his Bachelor of Science in Chemistry and Mathematics (Combined Honours) and his Doctor of Philosophy in Chemistry from the University of British Columbia, Canada. Jenkins has been working in Research and Teaching at the University of British Columbia, the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and the University of Hong Kong since 2002. His research has been published in scientific journals.
He has helped many of his students in one-to-one tutorials and has been successful in guiding his students to pursue further studies and careers in Science. Jenkins has tutored organic, inorganic and physical chemistry at the university level to an undergraduate student from Imperial College London, plant biology to a student at German Swiss International School and simple harmonic motion and wave properties to an IB Physics at Canadian International School.

Spanish Tutors
Spanish
Ms Belisa Hurtado Cheng is a native Spanish speaker. Belisa received her Bachiller Academico from El Instituto Montessoriano, Columbia. She also attended the Colegio Odontologico at the Universitaria Colegio de Bogota, Columbia.
Belisa has over ten years of Spanish tutoring experience in Hong Kong. Since 2008, Belisa has been a Spanish Tutor at the Hong Kong Baptist University, and she works for the Consulate General of Mexico in Hong Kong. Her expertise was also directed into the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, where she worked in the Communication and Language Services. Since joining IST, Belisa has been tutoring a student at Chinese International School in grammatical structures, written composition and Spanish vocabulary.
Spanish
Ms Ludovica Ricci has been tutoring Spanish with us since 2007. Her Bachelor of Arts is from Libera Universita' Maria SS. Assunta, Rome, where she majored in English, French, and Spanish. Ludo's wider commitment to her subjects is impressive: she was given charge of the Spanish courses at Diocesan Boys' School since November 2009, in addition to the extra-curricular activities for Spanish at ISF Academy since February 2010.
Ludo also has a TESOL Certificate in Teaching English. She has also tutored Spanish listening and speaking to a student of La Salle College in Hong Kong, and a student from Winchester College sitting the CIE International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) Spanish Listening examination.
